Just Desserts Launches First Organic Product Line

Brownie and Salted Caramel Brownie Bites available in major markets across the country starting in early June

Just Desserts, a pioneer in hand-crafted, scratch-baked desserts and sweet snacks, today announced the launch of the company’s first premium organic line for the health conscious generation of dessert aficionados. Organic Brownie Bites and Organic Salted Caramel Brownie Bites will be available in June in stores nationwide including Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls and Carrs. Made with whole grain and premium ingredients, there are no added fillers, artificial flavors, synthetic colors or preservatives in any of Just Desserts products, and to make them even more appealing each bite is under 70 calories.

Michael J. Mendes

Michael Mendes brings his deep industry experience to Just Desserts as the company embarks on a new era while maintaining the company’s core values. A seasoned executive, Mendes previously held executive positions at Diamond Foods Inc. and Dole Food Company. During his 28 year career, Mendes has achieved industry-leading growth and profitability through major corporate transformations and is recognized as an innovative leader who has built widely-recognized consumer brands. A native Californian, Mendes earned his BS from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo and an MBA from University of California, Los Angeles. He currently resides in San Francisco with his family. His favorite Just Desserts product is the Organic Brownie Bite.

Leighton Mue

Leighton Mue oversees accounts payable and receivables for Just Desserts and is laser-focused on the company’s financial growth. Mue possesses a versatile financial background built over the past 14 years working at SunLink Corporation, 365 Main, Inc. and Sun Microsystems, Inc. . He has successfully combined his technical knowledge and broad business expertise with his unwavering dedication to financial success. Mue received his BS from California State University, Hayward and has been a Certified Public Accountant in California since 2003. An East Bay resident, he currently resides in Alameda with his wife and two children. His favorite Just Desserts products are the Lemon Mini Bundt Cake and the Cookies and Cream Cupcakes.

David Baffoni

Vice President and General Manager
David Baffoni is responsible for day-to-day production and engineering activities at the modern Just Desserts production bakery in Fairfield, California. Baffoni possesses a track record of success in improving efficiency while also improving quality and reliability for businesses experiencing periods of rapid growth. He brings over 30 years of food processing experience to Just Desserts with a history of increasing responsibility in organizations that are leaders in their respective categories. Baffoni was most recently General Manager of Operations for Farmers Rice, California’s largest rice milling operation. Previously, he held manufacturing, engineering and capital project management positions with Diamond Foods and Louis Rich Company. He received his BS in Business Administration from California State University - Long Beach, and currently resides in Sacramento County with his family. His favorite Just Desserts product is the Chocolate Bundt Cake.
